Patterson’s Beverage Journal, November, 2004: Lunch hour at Pink is dark and quiet, cleaning people shine and polish the small Mission District space to gleaming. Fuchsia walls, crystal chandeliers and draped silver bead give the club a flavor all its own. But after dark night clients will be lining up on 16 th , Pink "preferred" cards in hand, vying for bottles of champagne, and other sparkly cocktails, and waiting for a complimentary turn around town in the pink limo that might be parked out front. Co-owner/Manager, Gilles is originally from Paris , but spent a lot of time traveling around - - Spain , Monaco , and Paris - - after being bored by a depressing stint in London finance. His aim at Pink is to make clients feel pampered and special and he incorporates his international experience into that concept. The result is an over-the-top décor and SRO crowd. Michele Bilobran, the current Pearl Vodka Ambassador, is a big fan of Pink. Gilles is a big fan of Pearl Vodka. "We pour a lot of Pearl at Pink," he grins. Pearl is an ultra premium vodka, made from Canadian winter wheat and Rocky Mountain water, distilled five times and filtered 6 in small batches over charcoal. Pearl Vodka is changing hands, and hoping to improve their visibility. Providing drink lists and incentives to their accounts, and being selective in its limited placement. "The quality and integrity of the product hasn't changed," Bilobran wants everyone to know, "just the way we're doing business." Lo Coco is the newest offering from Pearl , a 70 proof, coconut flavored vodka that is dangerously easy to drink. It tastes like a hybrid liqueur, without the typical syrupy sweetness, and this Pearl slips down your throat like a tropical sunset, with no alcohol aftertaste. Michele Bilobran has given many people their first taste of Lo Coco. "Nine out of ten times 'smooth' is the first word out of their mouths," she smiles. |
